1. Privacy principles

Select Folio is designed to keep core listing and Sold data on the user's own Mac whenever practical.

We do not sell personal information.

We do not use user information for advertising.

We do not use eBay data for advertising, AI or machine-learning model training, cross-seller profiling, or unrelated secondary purposes.

We use information only as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless another use is permitted by applicable law or, where required, you provide consent.

2. Information stored on your Mac

Select Folio stores most listing-management data locally on your Mac. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

item titles, prices, quantities, and condition information;
Item Specifics, Custom Label / SKU, categories, Business Policies, and Store Categories;
listing location information;
HTML descriptions and product images;
saved listing data and publishing-queue data;
information about active eBay listings;
Sold history; and
folder structure and other local application settings.

This core local data is not automatically uploaded to a Select Folio cloud-storage service. You are responsible for maintaining backups of important local data where appropriate.

3. Sold data

When requested by the user, Select Folio can retrieve available Sold information from the user's connected eBay account through eBay APIs and store that information on the user's own Mac. The current retrieval window is up to 2 years, subject to the information eBay makes available. Depending on the transaction, this may include:

Order ID, eBay Item ID, and Transaction ID;
item title, sold date, item price, and quantity;
selling costs or transaction fees;
refund and order amounts;
earnings and currency information;
destination country;
Custom Label / SKU and variation information;
product image URLs; and
Item Specifics.

The same fields are not available for every item or transaction.

Sold data obtained through eBay APIs is used only to provide functions requested or authorized by the connected seller, such as displaying, searching, and reusing the seller's own sales history.

Select Folio does not save buyer names, detailed street addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, postal codes, or tracking numbers as part of the Sold archive.

Some transaction identifiers and trading-activity information may still constitute personal information under applicable eBay rules and are handled accordingly.

4. Licensing and device authentication

Select Folio processes limited information needed to manage licenses, prevent misuse, and enforce device limits. This may include:

license code;
installation identifier;
device-authentication public key and related authentication credentials;
license status; and
timestamps related to authentication and license use.

Device-authentication private keys and certain credentials are protected using macOS Keychain on the user's Mac.

Select Folio does not use a Mac serial number or Apple ID for device authentication.

When a device license is deactivated, the Select Folio device credentials stored for that device are removed as part of the deactivation process.

5. Connecting your eBay account

Select Folio uses eBay OAuth to connect to the user's own eBay account.

Select Folio does not collect or store your eBay password.

Access Tokens and Refresh Tokens required for the eBay connection are stored in protected form and are used only to perform eBay functions requested through Select Folio, such as retrieving eBay information, creating listings, revising active listings, and retrieving Business Policies or related account information.

When you disconnect your eBay account from Select Folio, authentication credentials used for that eBay connection are revoked where supported and deleted or otherwise rendered irrecoverable from Select Folio's server-side systems.

Select Folio also deletes stored eBay connection credentials when the connection can no longer be refreshed and reconnection is required.

Select Folio receives eBay Marketplace Account Deletion notifications. When a valid deletion notification identifies a connected eBay account, the corresponding Select Folio eBay connection records are deleted or otherwise rendered irrecoverable in accordance with applicable eBay developer requirements.

We also delete eBay-related personal information when required by applicable law or applicable eBay developer requirements.

6. Website and API technical information

When you access the Select Folio website or authentication APIs, Cloudflare may process technical information such as:

IP address;
approximate country or region inferred from the IP address;
browser and operating-system information;
date and time of access;
requested URL and HTTP method;
request or response status; and
network and security-related technical information.

We use this information for website and API delivery, security, fraud and misuse prevention, and troubleshooting.

Our current Cloudflare Workers logs are retained for up to 3 days.

7. Stripe Managed Payments

Paid Select Folio subscriptions are processed through Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe acts as the merchant of record for eligible Managed Payments transactions and handles payment processing, recurring billing, applicable transaction taxes, refunds, chargebacks, and related payment functions.

Select Folio does not store your credit-card number.

Select Folio receives only the subscription and payment-status information needed to manage trials, paid subscriptions, license activation, renewal, suspension, or termination. This may include Stripe customer or subscription identifiers and related status information.

Stripe's processing of personal information is governed by Stripe's own privacy terms and policies.

8. How we use information

We use information for purposes including:

providing Select Folio and requested features;
saving, searching, duplicating, and reusing listing data;
creating and revising eBay listings;
saving, searching, and reusing Sold history;
license and device-authentication management;
eBay OAuth connectivity;
trial and subscription management;
license decisions based on subscription status;
security, fraud and misuse prevention, and troubleshooting; and
compliance with applicable law and requirements of eBay or other service providers.

We do not use user information for advertising.

9. Third-party services

Select Folio primarily uses the following third-party services:

eBay — for account connectivity, eBay data retrieval, listing creation, listing revision, and related eBay functions.

Cloudflare — for website and API delivery, licensing, device authentication, security, and eBay OAuth-related server functions.

Stripe Managed Payments — for payments, recurring billing, applicable taxes, refunds, chargebacks, and related payment processing.

Each third party handles information under its own applicable privacy policies and terms.

10. International processing

Select Folio is provided from Japan. We use international service providers including eBay, Cloudflare, and Stripe. As a result, personal information may be processed or stored outside Japan, including in jurisdictions in which those providers or their service providers operate.

Where personal data is processed or transferred outside Japan, we use or rely on safeguards permitted by applicable law. These may include processing in jurisdictions recognized under Japanese privacy law, contractual data-protection safeguards, recognized cross-border privacy certifications, or other lawful transfer mechanisms maintained by the relevant service provider.

Cloudflare and Stripe maintain contractual and internationally recognized cross-border data-protection mechanisms. eBay also maintains contractual and organizational safeguards for international processing under its applicable developer and privacy terms.

11. Sale or disclosure of personal information

Select Folio does not sell personal information.

We disclose information to third parties only when reasonably necessary to:

provide a function requested by the user;
use eBay, Cloudflare, Stripe, or another service provider needed to operate Select Folio;
comply with applicable law or a valid legal request;
address fraud, security issues, or infringement of rights; or
act with the user's consent where consent is required.

12. Retention and deletion

Listing data, images, Sold history, and other local information stored on the user's Mac generally remain there until the user deletes them.

eBay authentication and connection records are retained only while they are needed for an active eBay connection. They are deleted when the user disconnects the eBay account, when the connection can no longer be refreshed and reconnection is required, or when deletion is required by a valid eBay Marketplace Account Deletion notification, applicable law, or other applicable eBay requirements.

We also delete eBay-related personal information when it is no longer necessary for the legitimate purpose for which it was collected, or when deletion is otherwise required under applicable eBay developer requirements.

Device-authentication credentials are retained while the relevant device license activation is active. When that device license is deactivated, the stored device-authentication credentials for that device are deleted as part of the deactivation process.

Deactivated device-installation records and related license-assignment records may be retained for up to 30 days after deactivation for subscription administration, security, fraud and misuse prevention, and troubleshooting, after which they are automatically deleted.

License records are retained while the license is active and may be retained for up to 90 days after expiration or revocation for subscription administration, security, fraud and misuse prevention, troubleshooting, and handling license-related disputes or support requests, after which they are automatically deleted.

Temporary device-authentication challenges are valid for approximately 60 seconds, eBay OAuth state records are valid for approximately 10 minutes, and authenticated device sessions are valid for approximately 15 minutes. Used temporary authentication records are deleted immediately where practical. Expired or revoked temporary authentication records are automatically removed no later than the next daily retention cleanup.

Select Folio currently performs an automated server-side retention cleanup once per day to remove records that have reached the applicable deletion point described above.

Our current Cloudflare Workers logs are retained for up to 3 days.

Payment and transaction data held by Stripe as merchant of record are retained under Stripe's applicable policies and legal obligations.

13. Security

Select Folio uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the information it handles.

Device-authentication private keys and certain local credentials are protected using macOS Keychain. Server-side authentication information is protected against unauthorized access and use. Network communications use HTTPS or other appropriate secure transport.

No method of internet transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Where required by applicable law, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities of qualifying data-security incidents.

14. Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction concerning personal information associated with you, or other rights provided by law.

Where those rights apply, Select Folio will respond in accordance with applicable law. Requests to exercise applicable privacy rights may be submitted using the Legal Contact below.

15. EEA, United Kingdom, and mainland China

Select Folio currently does not offer free trials, paid subscriptions, or license activation to customers in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or mainland China.

Access to the public Select Folio website from those regions is not itself blocked. If supported territories change, we will review this Privacy Policy and any applicable data-protection requirements.

16. Users under 18

Select Folio is intended for adults who are able to enter into binding agreements and conduct selling activity on eBay.

We do not intentionally collect personal information from people under 18.

17. Relationship with eBay

Select Folio uses eBay APIs and related eBay services, but is not affiliated with, provided, operated, guaranteed, certified, or endorsed by eBay. eBay and related names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

18. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Select Folio features, third-party services, legal requirements, or other relevant circumstances change.

If a change is material, we will provide notice through the website, application, or another appropriate method where required or appropriate.

Where applicable law requires consent for a material change in how personal information is processed, we will obtain the required consent before applying that change to the affected processing.

The updated policy applies from the "Last updated" date shown on this page.
